Intermittent Fasting Lifestyle – I Lost Over 25 Pounds!

I am a video content creator, part-time local movie critic, sales executive by day and most importantly, I am the primary caregiver for a parent who is a stroke survivor. I create video content on how to maintain your lifestyle while managing your responsibilities such as caregiving.

My Mom motivated me to start my Youtube channel for other caregivers that may be going through similar challenges as I. After beginning the channel, it organically grew with the Fasting community as I share my experience living the fasting lifestyle.

What goals did you achieve since adding fasting into your life?

I lost over 25 pounds in my personal journey. I have never been that heavy before and I realized I was taking on my Mother’s diet as I became her caregiver in the last 3 years. I reached a routine to sustain my lifestyle by fasting on a regular basis.

I learned how to communicate better with God and I am more open to new possibilities along with becoming more creative. I always had chronic anxiety and it had stifled me from reaching simple goals. The fasting has combat the chaos in my life, which I can focus better. I have clarity of mind.

What is your best piece of advice for those just starting to fast?

I recommend doing your own research. It’s great to learn from others such as your organization, as well as, the fasting community. Although, the more you invest your time and effort, it will pay off in a way that you can appreciate. Your gut health will dictate future longevity by treating it right. I would also say that your traditional doctors most likely will not understand. Just know they will see the results in your blood work. And they will ask you what are you doing different. It’s certainly a way of life and not a diet fad. If you decipher the difference, you will be able to sustain it for the rest of your life!

Top 3 recommendations:

1- When you decide to fast…start slowly. I am an extremist and I fasted the first month a total of six days and daily 24 hours. You could burn out if you start with too much too soon. I recommend starting an intermittent fasting cycle 16/8 where you have 8 hours to eat your meals. If you feel more encouraged to move forward then tighten your window a few hours from week to week.

2- Keep your fasting private until you adapt to your new lifestyle. Most people do not understand what you are trying to achieve. Fasting is the most challenging lifestyle that is not for everyone. Some people believe in the myths of fasting and think you are starving yourself. And of course, that is not the case. You shouldn’t have to explain your choices to others unless someone is actually curious about it. You will be judged.

3- Be kind to yourself. There will be times of trial and error through the initial process and you will need to tweak it as you grow. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Although, if you want to do an extended fast (over 24 hours) please make sure you stay busy so you’re not focused on food all the time.
