Adding Fasting Into my Life Gave me a Sense of Freedom Back.

After gaining over 60+ lbs with my pregnancy in 2015, I knew something had to change. I looked at a picture of myself from July 4th, 2016 with a cotton candy bucket and a big slushie and was disgusted with what I saw. I didn’t commit to a healthier journey until January 2017.

I follow a Ketogenic lifestyle and I feel it’s really easy to integrate IF. For the most part, I’m never “starving” anyway. But both lifestyles complement each other really well.

It allowed me to break unhealthy food habits. I don’t need to be eating 24/7 and adding IF is a discipline that stops me stuffing my face just for comfort.

My intermittent fasting plan I try to follow:

•(16/8) 5 times a week.

•(OMAD) once a week.

•60 hour supported fast) once a month.

What motivates you to continue with this lifestyle?

I have a brain tumor and I’ll actually be getting surgery next month. It is important for me to be at the healthiest I can be to get through this fighting strong. Improving my cognitive function and having the best, cleanest energy I can is important to me so this way of life has become a priority.

  • Stay busy during your fasted period, time will pass quicker and you won’t think too much about food!

  • Do what feels natural…start off slowly. add an additional 30 minutes to your fast each day until you get to the time you want.

  • If you’re not hungry at the end of your fasted period, don’t force yourself to eat.
